The city of Gatineau and the Maire de la Ville, Monsieur Marc Bureau, declared June 2007
"Mois du Patrimoine Culturelle Portugais." This offers the Portuguese community and the community at large
a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the cultural diversity of the Portuguese who have lived in Hull
for over half a century. It will also provide a united force to continue our traditions in celebrating the day of Portugal, the 10th of June, and keep this cultural
spirit alive for our future generations.
Together,
with the different community organizations, we intend to promote and organize community events that show and shine who
we are. We hope you will participate and enjoy our willingness to share our culture with you...
The purpose of this group
is to share our Portuguese heritage with the community at large, and to create an alliance celebration for the day
of Portugal in Gatineau.
We
hope all of this will bring further understanding between all of us and make our youth proud of their roots, grow, and expand.
By
developing relationships and friendships, the organizations will become stronger and hopefully our culture will survive...
We also want to have fun while together and working on projects. Join our movement by participating in our events.
